So in England these lawyers in court kept asking for an account of a crime from a ‘PC Peach’ not realising that Peach was the name of a police dog. So the policemen completed the form as if it had been written by the dog and signed it with a paw print

Brimfield Police Department, Brimfield Ohio…check them out on Facebook!

Brimfield Police Department

Chief’s Babble……On the page.

I have been called many things during the last couple of years. I’m not talking about what criminals (mopes) call me. Most of those names we can’t use in the presence of women and children. I’m talking about members of the press. These are good names….I guess.

Eccentric. An anomaly. An enigma. Outspoken. Brazen. While I sort of appreciate my media friends attempting to describe me….I’m just me. It’s fairly simple. I watch Gunsmoke, John Wayne movies (and other westerns), a steady diet of The Andy Griffith Show, I read a LOT. Oh… and I shave with a straight razor. I saw it on a western once and thought it looked like fun. It’s a nice clean shave. It does impact my donation of blood, though.

This page has garnered more than our share of attention. I’m okay with that. I believe a bright light needs to be on law enforcement officers all over the world. I could not care less about personal attention. The officers everywhere should have it, though. I have said it more than once here; everyday, police officers all over the United States go to work wearing bullet proof vests to protect themselves from their fellow citizens. How’s that for a profession? This job is not as stressful for me as it is for others; however, we do see some things that most people cannot fathom. For me, personally, I could be done seeing death and not miss the sights, sounds and smells one bit. Boy howdy.

One continuous statement we get here….both the department and me, as an individual….”You guys are famous”. Yeah…so is Charles Manson. That wasn’t meant as sarcasm…it was meant as a point. Fame is relative. Regionally, people know us. In the other 49 states and 27 countries….some people know of us, because of our FB page and my willingness to talk.

The important thing to focus on is no matter how many articles are written or cameras show up here….we are still the same people. I work 11 hours a day now instead of nine….and we, as a department, will still be filling cruisers with food and toys, visiting with our senior residents, slapping high fives at the schools and being on a never-ending mope hunt. The only things that have changed are more people watching and a far better and stronger line of two-way communication has been established.

No matter who we speak with, who interviews us….or who attempts to label us….we are just and only the Brimfield Police Department. We may do some things differently; however, we are getting those things accomplished and we are keeping the bad guys guessing.

As always, thanks for being here…. and onward we go to 40,000 “likes”…..Chief Oliver
