IN MEMORIAM – OFFICER ANGEL GARCIA
A spokesman for the El Paso Texas Police Department has reported that Officer Angel Garcia was killed Sunday in a traffic crash. Garcia was a United States Marine Corp. Veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Semper Fi, Officer Garcia, you are gone but will never forgotten.
The West Virginia State Police was established in 1919 by an act of the West Virginia Legislature.
Each new trooper was initially required to bring his World War I uniform when he reported for enlistment hence the historical similarity between the WVSP uniform and the U.S. Marine Corps uniform and the U.S. Army campaign hat of the Great War.

SALUTE TO THOSE SERVING
State troopers from seven different states are stationed at the same airfield in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Notice the state patrol flags in the background. The troopers are from South Carolina, Nebraska, Delaware, Maryland, Kansas, Rhode Island, and Kentucky.
