Just another one of the thousands of speed enforcement stops that the California Highway patrol conducts every day. With the help of K-9 Duke, California Highway Patrol Officer Brain Paxson seized 83 kilograms of cocaine after stopping a speeding big rig in Bakersfield. Officer Paxson, a member of the CHP’s Canine Unit, pulled over the truck on northbound Highway 99 in the area of Panama Lane. The officer suspected criminal activity and the driver agreed to a search. With Duke’s help, the drugs were found in the truck’s cab. The CHP utilizes canine units across the state for many purposes including highway drug interdiction, bomb detection, criminal apprehension and assistance to allied agencies.
